Welcome to Remote English
Business English Training for Professionals
I'm Guy, the founder of Remote English. With over 25 years in financial services and a qualified Business English teaching background, I provide systematic training to help professionals communicate with precision and confidence in English.
Who I Am
Before becoming a full-time English tutor, I spent 25 years in Asset Management & Banking, working in London, Luxembourg, and Paris as a Project Manager and Business Analyst. My experience in change and transformation projects led me to train colleagues, proofread documents for non-native speakers, and eventually teach Business English globally.
As a native English speaker with a neutral accent, I understand the language challenges professionals face in international business environments—because I've worked in them myself.
My Teaching Philosophy
Language-Focused Training with Practical Application
I provide two types of training, each with flexible delivery methods:
1. Business English (Language Training)
Teaching grammar structures, vocabulary patterns, and language features you need for professional communication. Business contexts provide realistic practice, but the primary goal is language mastery.
Example: "Using participle clauses for concise business writing" or "Mastering modal verbs for professional emails"
2. Business Skills (Professional Competency Training)
Teaching how to conduct interviews, deliver presentations, manage meetings, or negotiate—while developing the English language skills needed to do these effectively.
Example: "Conducting Job Interviews in English" or "Delivering Professional Presentations"
Both approaches use systematic, structured materials with clear objectives and measurable outcomes.
Choose Your Learning Approach
I offer three teaching models to suit different learning styles and schedules:
Approach 1: Standard Live Teaching
Best for: Professionals who prefer guided instruction with real-time feedback
How it works:
- 50-minute live lesson where I teach new content in focused segments (6-8 minutes each)
- Immediate practice after each teaching point with my guidance
- Real-time feedback on your production
- Homework (15-30 minutes) extends what we covered in class
Lesson flow: Short teaching → immediate practice → feedback → next point
Available for: Both Business English and Business Skills courses
Approach 2: Flipped Classroom
Best for: Self-directed learners who want maximum speaking/practice time
How it works:
- 45-minute pre-class study using comprehensive materials I provide
- 10-15 minute quiz verifying your understanding before we meet
- 50-minute live session focused entirely on practice and application (minimal teaching)
- Homework applies learning to new contexts
Lesson flow: Independent study → quiz → intensive live practice
Available for: Both Business English and Business Skills courses
Approach 3: Business Skills Training
Best for: Professionals who need to perform specific business tasks in English
What makes this different:
While Approaches 1 and 2 can be used for any content, Business Skills Training has a distinct focus:
Primary Goal: Develop professional competency (how to interview, present, negotiate, etc.)
Secondary Goal: Build the English language needed to execute that skill effectively
Example: In "Conducting Job Interviews in English":
- You learn interview protocols, assessment frameworks, and management techniques
- You develop the grammar, vocabulary, and phrases needed specifically for interviewing
- Language teaching is functional—focused on what you need for this professional task
This is different from Business English where grammar and vocabulary are the primary focus, with business providing the context for practice.
Assessment: Can you perform the business task effectively in English? (Not just: Do you know the grammar?)
Available delivery: Standard Live Teaching or Flipped Classroom—your choice
Training Type Comparison
